Weber Screed
Weber Screed
Ready-to-use cement screed for indoor and outdoor use, as a floating, screeded or adhesive screed, heated or unheated concrete subfloor. Layer thickness 40-80 mm.
General description
Screed is a special concrete mix used for pouring interior floor structures, especially where a straight, smooth, flat base is required for the final floor covering (e.g., parquet, tiles, laminate flooring).
Weber (part of the Saint-Gobain Group), a manufacturer of building materials, offers screed/concrete underlay products that have good mechanical strength and adequate adhesion.
2. Basic components
Cement – the "carrier" of screed concrete, ensuring the binding and hardening process.
Fine aggregates (building sand, fine-grained gravel) – these make up the bulk of the mixture.
Water – activates the cement and is necessary for hydration.
(Optional) additives – such as plastic fibers, superplasticizers, shrinkage reducers to improve workability and reduce the risk of cracking.
3. Typical technical parameters
Density: Screed concrete is generally denser than lightweight mortar; typically around ~2000–2400 kg/m³.
Compressive strength: Typically high for good screeds, depending on the type of screed (e.g., normal concrete screed, self-leveling screed).
Setting time/drying time: The setting and drying of the concrete substrate is critical; a certain degree of drying must be achieved before covering (this depends on the mixture, layer thickness, and environmental conditions).
Thermal conductivity / thermal expansion: As it is used for interior floors, it is important that the concrete can withstand temperature fluctuations well.
